Treatment Overview
The skin is the largest organ of the body. However, day-to-day living can take its toll on our complexions. Environmental factors, diet, smoking, or simply getting older can all result in changes to tone, texture, and hydration. As a result, we begin to lose firmness and elasticity, resulting in changes that can be difficult to accept.
At Dr.JD&Co, we offer Profhilo®, an innovative skin remodeling treatment for increasing the tone and texture of the skin and adding moisture from within. In turn, this provides a skin to skin health for a younger-looking, more radiant complexion. Designed to help rejuvenate the appearance of aging skin. Profhilo® works to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, natural proteins within the skin responsible for keeping it taut, and hydrated, and repairing it from damage, using hyaluronic acid, or HA. This, in turn, helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
What is Profhilo
The first of its kind, Profhilo® is a revolutionary 'beneath the skin' hyaluronic acid moisturising treatment, made with the patented NAHYCO® technology. This results in a unique hyaluronic acid injectable gel, which has a prolonged stimulating activity on the dermal cells. When injected into skin, Profhilo® stimulates the skin cell receptors to counteract skin laxity and improve and restore firmness of the skin.
One of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market, Profhilo® not only boosts and hydrates the skin, but also remodels ageing and sagging tissue. The most common areas of treatment include the face and neck and can also be used for the décolletage, hands, arms, knees and abdomen area where it would effectively treat skin laxity. The treatment is suitable for men and women as well as offering skin benefits for patients of all ages.
How Does Profhilo® Work?
Ultra-pure hyaluronic acid is precisely injected into the area being treated. Unlike wrinkle-reducing and dermal filler treatments, Profhilo® stimulates collagen and elastin, attracting water in the deeper layers of the skin.
As a stabilized product, the activity on dermal cells will last longer than that of a non-stabilized gel. During this time the stimulation of four different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slow release of hyaluronic acid.
The stimulation results in significant tissue improvement. Therefore we cannot say that Profhilo® is a skin booster as it also has a significant tightening / lifting effect on the tissue.
What areas can Profhilo skin booster treat?
Thanks to its amazing makeup, Profhilo can treat a variety of areas of the body. The most common treatment areas include the face and neck. However, it can also be used for the décolletage, hands, arms, knees, and abdomen. In these areas, it would effectively treat skin laxity.
When will I see results after Profhilo skin booster?
We recommend 2 treatments 4 weeks apart for the best results. We may also recommend a third treatment if you may benefit, following our expert assessment.
How long does Profhilo skin booster last?
Profhilo lasts up to 6 months after the recommended course of 2 treatments. We recommend you see us every 6-9 months for a top-up of your Profhilo. You will only need one treatment to keep your skin glowing and look hydrated.

Course of treatment
It is important to note that for most treatments, the final results are visible around 2 weeks post-procedure. Meaning, we encourage you to remain patient during this time before making a final judgment.

In most cases, two Profhilo® treatments are necessary, spaced 4 weeks apart. During your consultation, Dr.JD will be able to better advise how many sessions will be necessary. The effects of Profhilo® are not permanent, lasting up to six months, and repeat treatment will be necessary in order to maintain results.

Dermal fillers and Profhilo® are both injectable treatments formulated of hyaluronic acid. However, dermal fillers are most commonly used to add volume to a particular area, whereas Profhilo® primarily a hydrating treatment that is dispersed across the skin to provide an all-over rejuvenation and subtle, natural-looking results.

Profhilo® is suitable for most patients, and there is no upper age limit. However, where there are particularly deep folds in the skin, other treatments may be better suited. During your consultation, Dr.JD will be able to assess your suitability for Profhilo®, and recommend alternative treatments where necessary.

Profhilo® is most commonly used for facial rejuvenation, but is suitable for other areas of the body, such as the arms, knees, hands, neck and decolletage.

There is no downtime necessary, and most patients can return to their usual routine immediately after treatment. However, patients should avoid wearing makeup, exposure to extreme temperatures, swimming, exercise, and touching the site of injection for 24 hours post-treatment. Patients may experience lumps, redness, bruising and tenderness at the injection site, but this should subside within a day.
